Junior School

Pre-K to Year 6

We don’t rush childhood

Our Junior School is a place where childhood is cherished, curiosity is encouraged, and learning comes alive. In the Early Years, children build a strong foundation through play, exploration and connection. As they move through the Primary Years, they grow in independence, confidence and responsibility—guided by caring teachers and rich learning experiences. Across all years, we nurture a sense of belonging, a love of learning, and the courage to take on new challenges.

Unique from the start

From their very first day at BMGS, our Junior School students enjoy opportunities you won’t find at every school. With specialist programs in French, Music, and our award-winning, Wild Ed, plus the benefits of a seamless Pre-K–12 journey, we give children the best possible start to their learning adventure.

From Pre-K, our students begin learning French through songs, games, and stories. It’s a fun and natural way to build language skills early—and it sparks curiosity about other cultures and the wider world.

Wellbeing in the Junior School

Primary students are actively learning about themselves, others, and how the world fits together. They benefit from explicit teaching in social and emotional skills, along with a wide range of activities designed to support their wellbeing.

Our Deputy Head of Junior School – Culture and Care works closely with staff, students and families to ensure every child feels supported and known. Our School Chaplain also plays an important role, offering care, connection and opportunities for spiritual growth as part of daily life in the Junior School.

Our ‘Happiness Dogs’ —Millie and Maisie—are much-loved members of the Junior School, providing comfort, connection and joy. Wellbeing is further supported through our Wild Ed sessions, which offer opportunities for calm, reflection and resilience in nature.

Beyond the classroom

Learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom—our Primary students have access to a wide range of co-curricular activities that help them discover their interests, talents and passions. From Junior School musicals, choir and orchestra to chess, debating, cooking, and Tournament of Minds, there’s something for every child to explore and enjoy. Some activities take place during lunchtime, while others are offered after school, providing flexible opportunities to get involved.

Two campuses, one community

Our Junior School operates across two campuses to support families throughout the 91ÇÑ×Ó. Both campuses share the same high standards, dedicated staff and strong sense of community. Students regularly connect through shared sport and other activities, helping build friendships and ease the transition into Years 5 and 6.

Robyn and Skye

I like that we get to play, draw, and do some work.

I like that we have free play time and that we do maths.

Evelyn

I love 91ÇÑ×Ó Grammar School because I love the education there and I learn about 100 things every day! Also everyone belongs and they are all kind. This school is definitely the best school on Earth. 🙂

Ziggy

At 91ÇÑ×Ó Grammar School, guided by compassionate and dedicated teachers, I gain new knowledge and learn how to collaborate and understand others. It is where I explore my strengths, build my confidence, and prepare myself for the future. That is why school truly feels like my second home.

Hugo

I love the play equipment. The technology that I can use for projects.  In STEAM I love using Scratch.

Finn

The main reason I think our school is amazing is the range of sporting opportunities and how you can progress through different achievement levels. Each new level allows you to compete in new places, challenge yourself, and discover your limits.

Harper

I like it when we do lots of science experiments because we learn teamwork and enjoy hands-on learning.

Atticus

My teacher helps me extend my mathematical skills through problem solving and deep questioning. I like that I have choice and voice when completing tasks. I really enjoyed MANSW and working as a team to investigate topics.
